Retro Sofas and luxyry armchairs Funky Chairs – A Real London Story

I can’t walk past a retro armchair without stopping for a look. Growing up, there was a sofa in our house that had seen it all. It weren’t showroom-perfect, but it felt alive.

When the East End was full of voices, traditional armchairs furniture meant something. You’d keep the same chair your whole life. It’s in the weight of the wood.

I rescued a battered armchair from outside a shop in Peckham. The fabric was stained and faded, but I knew straight away it had something. It’s become part of my story.

Each district carries its own vibe. Kensington loves velvet, with deep sofas. Shoreditch stays messy, with bold fabrics. London wouldn’t be London without the variety.

New furniture looks dead next to vintage. Vintage finds get better with years. They remind us life isn’t flawless.

If you ask me straight, I’ll pick a vintage sofa over new every time. A sofa should tell your story.

So next time you’re tempted by something new, take a look at what’s already lived. Take home something with scars, and let it grow with you.
