From Kingston To Camden: Varon Talks Retro Furniture

I reach this city when Empire Windrush dock. Talk about retro armchair, vintage sofa?.

Share space wid three bredren, but dat armchair keep we warm. Modern people love shiny tings.

Step in Portobello, armchair wid leather crack. Dem tings not showroom clean, but dem true.

When Notting Hill riot cool down, people buy furniture to last. Every scratch talk story.

Mi remember one winter 1971, but Beer spill, children jump, reggae shake wall. Mi can hear di spring creak when man drop heavy.

London borough different style. Belgravia love polish, wid deep wingback. Dalston funky, wid retro chair mash-up.

Dem soulless ting? Dem got no memory. Old funky accent seat carry life.

Mi speak plain, space-saving seating options mi pick funky armchair over soulless sofa.

So next time you want chair, dig through retro, and make it tell your story same as mine.
